But the card you have is still a good one even though its a little bit old.

Sometimes the card just cant do what you thought it could. But check the cards specs to make sure that it does what you think it does/want it to do. I doubt theres a problem with the video card itself. So what you could do is plug in the VGA, go into the driver menu and set it manualy to DVI then switch to the DVI chanel on the monitor and it should work. Sometimes you need to make changes in the graphics card driver. It should adjust to the DVI conection by itself. (ie VGA) if you want to use DVI you should take out the VGA cable and just leave the DVI cable in.

If you leave both cables pluged in chances are your PC will default to what you have been using. It could be that you set the PC to the monitors max res using the VGA cable but then failed to lower it for DVi which is why you wont get the picture. (On an older LCD i had the VGA was 1280X1024 through VGA but through DVI it was only 1024X768) Sometimes on certain monitors the analog conection (VGA) offers a higher max res than the Digital DVi conection.

(DVI-I is both analog and digital.)Īlso, you need to check what the max resolution of the monitor is and set the card to that res. You should check to see if the monitor accepts a digital signal. Not sure exactly what the problem is here. any suggestions? I've never used the DVI-out on what is now a fairly old gfx card. I can't seem to get any reply from "Hanns G Europe Support and Service Web", and there are no related FAQs. This also happened once with both connected. I tried it with just the DVI connected and got occasional quick flashes of the desktop with some multi-coloured lines of noise across the screen. Occasionally on startup it detects both inputs and when I select 'digital' the same happens.

The display manual seems to be telling me to run it with both the VGA and DVI connected, but when I try to switch from 'analog' to 'digital' using the on-screen menu I get a blank screen for a moment, then it switches back to analog. The display didn't come with a DVI cable although the manual says it should have done, but I bought one anyway - a Belkin PureAV for what seemed like a good price from eBay. I have an approximately 3-year-old Inno 3d Geforce FX5600 gfx card running a new Hanns G HW191D 19" LCD widescreen. Hopefully this is the right place for this thread,
